Research interests
Since aquatic ecosystems are under severe anthropogenic stress, I am evaluating the use of aquatic environmental DNA for monitoring purposes. By investigating the waterbird distribution in and around Lake Constance I can evaluate a new approach in a well-studied system to establish it for regions, where no bird monitoring is performed or possible.
I furthermore focus on a link between bird and neozoa appearances of the past with sedimentary DNA to elucidate whether birds play a role as potential vectors.
