How to get there

The working groups of the Limnological Institute are shared over two buildings of the University of Konstanz. The secretary's office and the working groups and offices of Laura Epp, Frank Peeters and Dietmar Straile are located in Limnology Building U at the lakeside in Konstanz-Egg:

1. Getting to the universiy campus Giessberg, Biology building M, see here please

2. To the Limnology building U by bus from Konstanz downtown / main train station

Take bus line 4/13 (and not 13/4) until bus stop Egg / Universität (one stop before Mainau Island). Follow the signposting for pedestrians in direction to University Sports Campus/Mainau Island. The blue building at the right-hand, lake-side end of the University Sports Campus is the Limnological Institute. Line 13/4 follows the opposite, longer circular route.

3. By bicyle

When coming along the Bodensee Radweg stop at village Egg, located in between Island Mainau and Staad / Meersburg Ferry. The Limnological Institute is the blue building at the lake-side end of the University Sports Campus. When cycling from downtown Konstanz, it is about 4.4 km to the Institute. Starting at the Old-Rhine bridge / Bicycle bridge in direction to Allmansdorf / Fähre Meersburg, cycle until to bus stop Tannenhof and traffic lights (at km 2). Then follow direction to Universität/Mainau, by crossing the street to the left, and cycle further along the Hockgraben below the University Campus to Egg. The described bicyle tour avoids the hills at University Campus and Allmansdorf.


4. By car via A81/B33 from direction Singen

Direction Konstanz - Mainau Island. Drive past Mainau further in direction Allmannsdorf/Meersburg Ferry for 1.6 km, at the crossing turn left into village Egg. In Egg, follow the road including a sharp turn (ca. 400 m) to the end (University Sports Campus). The Limnological Institute is the blue building to the right, including parking space for visitors.

5. By car from Switzerland via A7

Direction Konstanz - Mainau Island / Meersburg Ferry. In Allmannsdorf, turn left at the traffic light in direction to Mainau Island. After passing Allmansdorf, turn right after approx. 1 km, into village Egg. In Egg, follow the road including a sharp turn (ca. 400 m) to the end (University Sports Campus).

6. By car and ferry from Meersburg

From Staad ferry terminal follow directions to Mainau Island, that is, after 700m turning right at the traffic light. When passing Allmansdorf, after approx. 1 km turn right into village Egg. In Egg, follow the road including a sharp turn (ca. 400 m) to the end (University Sports Campus).
