Friday, September 23rd is excursion day. We offer a total of 6 excursions of different duration and distance from Constance.  The realization of the excursions depends on the Covid regulations of Baden-Württemberg in September. More detailed information about the excursions including the costs will be available on the conference homepage from April 1st.

Excursions

1 Wollmatinger Ried

The Wollmatinger Ried is one of the best known nature reserves on the shore of Lake Constance and is managed by NABU. We will have a three-hour guided hike in the Ried. The journey will be made by public transport.

2 Überlinger See - Besuch der Bodenseewasserversorgung/Sipplingen und Pfahlbauten in Unteruhldingen

The Lake Constance water treatment plant in Sipplingen supplies about 4 million inhabitants in Baden-Württemberg with drinking water. In a 90-minute guided tour we will see the steps of processing and quality assurance of the Lake Constance water.

Afterwards we will drive via Überlingen to Unteruhldingen and visit the Lake Dwelling Museum, where we will learn about reconstructed lake dwelling villages of different epochs, and the early use of the lake and the shore areas by humans. www.pfahlbauten.de (full day tour).

3 Institut für Seenforschung (ISF) / Fischereiforschungsstelle, Langenargen (FFS)

ISF and FFS emerged from the "Institute for Lake Research and Management", which was founded more than 100 years ago in Langenargen. We will visit both institutes and be told about the current work of the institutes.

4 Oberschwäbische Seen

The action program for the rehabilitation of Upper Swabian lakes develops concepts for the rehabilitation of lakes and ponds in Upper Swabia. We will visit individual lakes and learn about the respective lake conditions and rehabilitation measures. Afterwards we will visit the Pfrungener Ried (full day tour).

5 Wutachschucht im Schwarzwald

The Wutach Gorge in the Upper Black Forest is one of the oldest nature reserves in Baden-Württemberg. In the excursion we will undertake a hike of several hours through the Wutach Gorge with a Wutach ranger (full-day tour).

6 EAWAG

The Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology is the leading water research institute in Switzerland. In the excursion, we will travel to Dübendorf near Zurich and get to know Eawag's headquarters and the research departments there.
