Compound Specific Isotope Analysis (CSIA) using GC-C-IRMS

The laboratory undertakes compound-specific 13C and 15N isotope analysis of a variety of compounds using GC-combustion isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC-C-IRMS). Compound-specific isotope analyses for some compounds are available for compounds such as amino acid, their derivatives, steroids and fatty acids (in collaboration with AG Martin-Creuzburg). Target compounds must be isolated from bulk materials, such as biological substances or sediment material using variety-step and preparation procedures prior to analysis. Analysis is performed using a Agilent GC/C system coupled to Isoprime IRMS system.
